How can I make coffee double strength?

Will adding double the amount of coffee grind in the filter of a drip coffee machine make the coffee double strength in caffeine and/or flavor?

Not really double. It will be somewhat stronger but not nearly double strength. Easiest way to make double strength coffee is to use a french press. In the french press, the coffee steeps in the water and will become much stronger than you can get with drip. Perk will be much stronger too but I find the cooked taste of perked coffee to be somewhat burnt in taste.

If the purpose of this exercise is to make ice coffee, then I suggest doing what I do. Brew coffee regular strength and make ice cubes from it. Brew a 2nd batch of coffee and pour the coffee over the coffee ice cubes.

Yes it will. If you usually use 2 Tablsp. of coffee to 2 cups of water, then using 4 tablsp. coffe with the same amount of water will give you a cup that’s twice as strong with 2 X the caffeine.

Ecstra Shuger (It is a brand of sugar that boosts the potency of the caffeine)

i have worked at starbucks. okay. you need to just add about 1 to 2 extra tablespoons to the amount if its just a small pot your making, and 2-3 extra tblsp for a large pot. i usually fill my water up to the number 4 on the pot and put 5 tblsp in. i too enjoy the benefits of more caffeine and a bold flavor. so, yes, the more grounds with less water will have you bouncin off the walls. i worked at one at an airport and damn near every sleep deprived pilot was first inline asking for 4 or 5 shots of espresso in their grande latte.
in the future, when purchasing grounds, if you prefer a stronger coffee with full caffeine, buy the darkest roast they have.
decaf is actually just a reduced amount of caffeine. just so you and everyone know. i never knew that before i started working there.
what starbucks uses in their drinks is freshly ground espresso beans.
espresso beans is basically the darkest roast out there.
please honey, dont double the amount of grounds. it will be nasty.

Yes, simply add more than the amount you’d usually put in for the same amount of water. If you’re after stronger flavor and more caffeine, however, your best bet is a French Press. The longer steeping time means more flavor, and caffeine, can be had from the same amount of coffee.
